Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. ISAIAH 41:10
It can be easy to start our day discouraged. We can have a thousand things running through our minds – endless to-do lists and constant errands here and there—and let those stresses take over the happy moments going on all around us. We often put our focus on what’s bothering us or what needs accomplishing that day, and we miss soaking in all the blessings.
Sometimes I can feel unsettled until a few things are crossed off my list for the day, which can make me feel defeated before the day has hardly begun. I can let these discouraging moments have a lot of power over me, causing anxiety. Instead, I want to remember that God does not want me to fear, and that He is here to help me.
Next time we start to feel anxious about all that we have to accomplish, let’s remember that chances are, what’s bothering us right now will be a memory in a few days.
God tells us He will strengthen us and help us—even through those times. When we take time to regain focus on the good things, we can push away stress and worry and replace them with positive thoughts. One way we can do this is to think of some things that we’re grateful for. In a season of chaos, our blessings may be hard to see through all the debris, but there is always something good, even if it is simply the sunshine peeking through the clouds or clean water to drink. It may be small, and that’s okay. It will help us shift our focus away from what’s swirling around us. The things causing us stress in this moment will not last forever.
GO FOR IT!
Today, focus on the good and find some blessings between the chaos and worry. God wants you to focus on the good, and He has promised to strengthen and help you. He doesn’t want you to be dismayed. What are you grateful for that you can be reminded of in times of chaos? What helps you to regain calm in these times?
